Go

I was trying to generate some interest in the ancient game of Go in Cumbria at the last Cumbria Individual Championships in Penrith.

Next weekend is an opportunity for anyone with an interest to observe, take part and talk to active players of various strength in Cumbria when the Three Peaks Go Tournament takes place in Grange over Sands

It’s a 5-round McMahon tournament, which is similar to the Swiss system we are all familiar with, but also takes into account the method of providing handicaps to lower graded players.

I played last year and will take part again this year. There were some very strong players present as the Go Tournament circuit is nothing like as big as it is in Chess and player, I think, tend to travel a lot further to take part in events.

Hopefully I might see a one or two of you there

Below are a few useful Go Links which might generate some more interest. I would be genuinely  interested in starting Cumbria’s first Go Club. The closest currently is Lancaster.
